In construing the provision of this chapter, the following words or phrases shall have the meaning designated unless a different meaning is expressly provided, or the context clearly indicates otherwise:

“Council” means the Tribal Council of the Wiyot Tribe.

“Person” means any individual, corporation, firm, partnership, joint venture, association, social club, estate, trust, the United States, tribe, state, county, city, district or other political subdivision of any state or any other group or combination acting as a unit.

“Pollutant” means any substance that will alter the quality of the waters of the Reservation.

“Quality of the water or waters” means any chemical, physical, biological, bacteriological, radiological and/or other properties or characteristics of water, which affect its use.

“Reservation” means all land, air and water located within the exterior boundaries of the Wiyot Tribe Reservation and within the exterior boundaries of the original 20 acres of the Wiyot Tribe Reservation deemed under the Tribe’s jurisdiction in Table Bluff Band of Indians vs. Lujan, et al. and Table Bluff Band of Indians vs. Andrus, et al.

“Water” or “waters” means any water, surface or underground, located or running through the Reservation and the original 20 acres.

“Wiyot Tribe” and “Tribe” mean the Wiyot Tribe. [Ord. 08-03 Art. III, approved 4/5/03.]
